Recent statistics show a dramatic increase in bicycle-motor vehicle collisions
in recent years.
An editorial entitled “Sharing the Road” recently appeared in the Minneapolis
Star Tribune newspaper. According to the Star Tribune, officials at the Regions
Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota saw a thirty (30) percent increase in bicycle-motor
vehicle crash injuries in 2008. Officials at North Memorial Hospital in
Robbinsdale, Minnesota reported cases involving fifty (50) victims during the summer of 2008, as compared to twenty-eight (28) the previous year.
Clearly, these statistics call for increased safety awareness both on the part of bicyclists and motorists. This is especially true of the parents of children who will be riding their bicycles and tricycles this spring, summer and fall.
Schmidt Law Firm, Minneapolis Accident Attorney has 30 years of experience in representing the victims of personal injury and wrongful death, including a number of successful cases in which they have successfully recovered for personal injuries to both adults and children which were suffered while using a bicycle.
